It’s time for the education system to make a choice: continue to ignore the importance of teaching kids and teens how to navigate technological innovation OR try to prepare them for constant and rapid technological innovation.

Nowhere is this now more critical than when it comes to AI.

Fail to teach kids to understand how it works, form ethical behavior around it and use it responsibly and schools will undo a lot of the benefits that kids and teens derive from what they learn. Ignore AI as a permanent fixture in the learning process and schools and teachers won’t take the steps needed to adapt curriculum and lessons to co-exist with the most powerful digital tools available.

This is why in 2026, NewTechKids will be focusing on developing AI literacy curriculum, lessons, teaching resources and teacher training. Early next year, we’ll be sharing more about an exciting collaboration which will include research, curriculum and lesson development and the testing of an AI curriculum for middle school students.

We’re looking for primary schools in Amsterdam southeast, Amsterdam Nieuw West and Amsterdam Noord to enable us to test our new AI literacy curriculum in 2026. If you represent such a school or would like to suggest one, please reach out!
