Super excited to welcome Carol Yarbrough as NewTechKids’ latest teacher advisor.
A high school computer science teacher, Carol is currently Computer Science Content Director at A+ College Ready in Alabama. She is also a College Board consultant who organises professional development for AP teachers through workshops and AP Summer Institutes.
Before all this, she taught at the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham for 11 years.
Carol graduated with a degree in Computational Mathematics and worked in just about every aspect of the computer industry before becoming a teacher.
What we really love about her addition to NewTechKids’ team is her speciality: teaching computing in the arts. Carol is constantly exploring how to combine computer science with art in the form of music, theatre, dance, the visual arts and more.
Tech education is transitioning from a narrow focus on computer science and the technical skills associated with programming to a broader focus on technological innovation and the human and social aspects of technology. We think that art and design education are critical to this evolution so we love collaborating with teachers like Carol.
