Fall 2017 activities

NewTechKids is pleased to announce its Fall 2017 line up of activities. We have spent the summer developing and testing new approaches to computer science education in partnership with our non-profit foundation, Stichting NewTechKids. During two, brand-new bootcamps, we taught computer science concepts along with a stronger focus on technological literacy. NewTechKids at Codestarter Event

For the third year in a row, NewTechKids will give workshops at Codestarter, Science Center NEMO's annual event focused on encouraging children ages 8 - 11 to learn how to program. Codestarter is a free event which takes place on Saturday, July 1st. Four rounds of workshops will take place from 10:00 - 15:30. NewTechKids teaching youngest primary school students

NewTechKids is pleased to announce that we will be working closely with a bilingual Dutch primary school in Utrecht to integrate computational thinking, computer science and technological literacy into its school curriculum. NewTechKids will teach a 10-week program for students ages five and six at KSU Onder de Bogen, a new school in Utrecht which offers instruction in both Dutch and English. NewTechKids in United Arab Emirates

NewTechKids recently taught computer science workshops to children in the United Arab Emirates during the Sharjah International Book Fair (November 2 - 12, 2016). The Book Fair is one of the largest in the Middle East, with thousands of participants including children from local and private schools. New Lessons on Smart Energy Systems

Last week, we engaged our students in some serious challenge-based learning in order to understand systems thinking and how computers are embedded into all kinds of systems. We challenged the 7-12 year old kids in our 'Computers and How They Work' summer bootcamp to work in teams to design and program a smart energy system which could respond to different temperatures and activate a heating system when the room temperature dropped. In the process, they learned about conditionals and if-else statements.

NewTechKids at Uitmarkt 2016

NewTechKids is proud to be collaborating with Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (the Amsterdam Municipal Library) to give workshops during Uitmarkt 2016. We'll be giving our 'intro to coding' workshops during the Uitmarkt in Amsterdam this weekend which takes place on Museumplain. Kids will design a robot head out of a cardboard box and then learn how to 'code' themselves. In the process, they'll learn about coding, algorithms and automation. Teaching Coding Concepts to My Students

Report: EU Code Week Teacher Training

NewTechKids is proud to share our report of the EU Code Week 2015 teacher training pilot program we organised in September and October 2015. Museums: A New Frontier for Tech Education

Teachers in Amsterdam and Delft will give coding lessons to 2000 students

Starting today, 75 primary school teachers in Amsterdam and Delft will teach NewTechKids ‘intro to coding’ lesson to their students as part of EU Code Week celebrations (October 10-18).
