NewTechKids ‘Try It Out’ Workshop: 7-12 Years (May 18, 2021)

(Read about our health and safety precautions.)

Taught in a combination of Dutch and English.

During this NewTechKids ‘Try It Out’ workshop held at the Amsterdam Public Library, kids ages 7-12 can participate in a workshop which introduces them to computer science, programming and robotics in a fun and social way.

Kids will dive into designing, building and coding with a visual programming tool using LEGO Mindstorms robotics kits and art supplies. They’ll learn about design and computer science concepts (coding, commands, loops, if-else logic, etc.). They’ll discuss inspiring examples of technology before completing a challenge in a small team and presenting their prototypes.

Our workshop is ideal for children with no previous exposure to computer science, coding and robotics.

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, May 18th from 16:15 – 17:45.

The workshop will be taught in a combination of English and Dutch by a native Dutch-speaking teacher with specialised training in computer science. The curriculum and lesson are based on NewTechKids’ pedagogy which focuses on concept-context learning and the use of tangible learning tools.

A maximum of 16 students is required to offer this workshop. Registrants will be notified three days prior to the workshop if it is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.
