Intro to AI Generators (Thurs.) Bootcamp: 9-14 Years (4 workshops)

Bilingual camp taught in a combination of Dutch and English. A limited number of heavily-discounted spots are available for kids from low-income families with a Stadspas.

During this bootcamp of four weekly sessions, NewTechKids will introduce kids ages 9 – 14 to AI text and image generators like ChatGPT: what they are, how they work, and how to use them effectively and responsibly.

This bootcamp will focus on helping kids understand AI generators and the fundamental computer science concepts behind them such as algorithms, prediction, data sets, parameters and prompt engineering. We’ll bring these concepts to life through creative pen and paper exercises, art activities, and usage of online AI art and text generators.

Kids will develop a creative AI project which will be presented during the final class. Where possible, we will use child-friendly AI platforms and AI platforms adapted for our usage. Kids will generate art and text under our strict supervision.

Classes will take place on Thursday afternoons from 16:30 – 18:00 on the following dates:

– June 29
– July 6, 13 and 20

Kids are asked to bring a snack which they will consume at the the beginning of class.

This bilingual camp will be taught by a native Dutch-speaking professional teacher with specialised training in computer science. The curriculum and workshops are based on NewTechKids’ pedagogy which focuses on concept-context learning and the use of tangible learning tools.

Our camp is ideal for children with no previous knowledge of computer science or AI and those who have previously participated in NewTechKids programs.

A minimum of 16 students is required to offer this camp. Registrants will be notified 3 days prior if the camp is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.
