Super-psyched to announce that NewTechKids’ founders, Deborah Carter and Marja-Ilona Koski, will give a talk on the future of tech education as part of the ‘ADC Talks’ global series. The talk will be hosted on Thursday, August 27th at 19:00 at Amsterdam’s Apple store at the Leidseplein. Attendance is free. Read more.
Deborah and Marja-Ilona will talk about why technology education is as important as reading and math and why kids should start learning about technology, programming and computer science as soon as they start school.
They’ll share their views on how to teach different age ranges, based on the teaching approaches, curriculum and lessons they have developed for NewTechKids, their after-school, technology education academy in Amsterdam.
To make the talk extra special, they have invited Pilar Quezzaire, one of their advisors who is a specialist in teaching and learning with technology at the International Baccalaureate, to join them. She will speak about international developments in technology education at the primary school level as well as the issue of transfer: teaching kids so that they are able to transfer the knowledge they learn in one discipline to another.
