NewTechKids is pleased to announce that Deborah Carter, its co-founder, will be speaking at the Hands On! Conference which takes place in Amsterdam from October 13 – 16th.
More than 300 museum professionals from around the world will gather to discuss and be inspired by the latest developments in children’s education in museums.
Under the theme ‘Touch and Learn’, participants will explore how museums in the 21st century can touch the hearts and minds of children. The conference will feature keynote speakers, workshops and exclusive visits to some of the best children’s museums, museums and science centers in the Netherlands, including Science Center NEMO, Museum of the Tropics, the Rijksmuseum, the Jewish Historical Museum, the National Maritime Museum and the Stedelijk Museum.
Deborah will speak about how programming, systems thinking and design are perfect concepts to explore as part of children’s learning experiences in museums.
Children’s museums are uniquely positioned to bring technology, computer science and programming, and the higher order thinking skills associated with them, to life by adopting a crossover approach: applying technology concepts to art, design and culture.
