(Class to be taught in English.)

NewTechKids is organising a special evening class for parents under the theme ‘How to Raise a Tech Innovator’.

Parents are playing an increasingly important role in making sure that their children have a solid foundation to understand technology: how it works, why it works and how to create technological solutions.

NewTechKids invites parents of children ages four to 12 to join this class on Wednesday, January 30th from 19:00 – 21:00 at the Amsterdam Public Library ‘s main branch near Centraal Station.

The class will focus on practical steps that parents can take to shift their children from only being technology users to becoming technology creators, producers and makers.

NewTechKids will share the teaching approaches it has used successfully for the past four years to interest primary school-aged children in design, computer science and programming and encourage them to think critically about the technology in their lives.

We’ll provide recommendations for activities that parents can do with their children at home, according to different age ranges.

Parents will also participate in hands-on demos of some of the learning toys and tools recommended by NewTechKids for primary school-aged children.

Special attention will be given to discussing strategies to engage girls and children who haven’t previously been exposed to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) or who lack confidence in these areas.
