Advanced LEGO Mindstorms Bootcamp: 10-14 years (Sat.)
Challenge: explore AI by designing, building and programming with LEGO Mindstorms
During this computer science bootcamp of eight (8) weekly workshops on Saturday afternoons, kids ages 10-14 will take a deep dive into the world of AI to explore how it works, how to program AI algorithms and how to generate, store and present data.
The course is designed for kids with a strong foundation in building and programming with LEGO Mindstorms. While the age range will be kids ages 10-14, we will make exceptions for younger kids who have completed previous NewTechKids programs and showed advanced designing, building and programming skills.
The focus of the bootcamp will be on AI and understanding how it works. Kids will dive deeper into computer science concepts such as variables, and-or, data storage and data presentation while developing important soft skills such as teamwork and collaboration, communication, negotiation and presentation and innovating during structured design processes. There will be a stronger emphasis on math, calculations and computational thinking.
This course is ideal for children who want to pursue studies related to technology, computer science, programming, and design.
Workshops will take place weekly on Saturdays from 14:00 – 17:00 on the following dates:
– May 19, 26
– June 2, 9, 26, 23
– July 7, 14
This bootcamp is designed to help kids develop computational thinking skills: adopting thought processes required to solve problems and create solutions using computers. NewTechKids promotes bilingual education and our workshops will be taught in a combination of Dutch and English.
A minimum of 12 students is required to offer this bootcamp. Registrants will be notified one week prior if the bootcamp is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.
