Digital literacy is not simply ‘nice to have’ in 2023. It is a fundamental skill that all primary school students need to develop in order to enhance their learning and function in the world around them.
NewTechKids is happy to be sharing our knowledge and experience about teaching digital literacy during a free workshop for primary school teachers during the Mokum Maakcoalitie’s Maaksymposium on November 14th in Amsterdam.
During this hands-on workshop, NewTechKids will give participants a peak into how its teaching team is teaching digital literacy during school and after-school activities across Amsterdam.
Our workshop will begin with an explanation of how we define digital literacy and identify the related skills that children need to fully participate as tech-ready students and digital citizens. We’ll then discuss curriculum and lesson scaffolding before providing participants with a hands-on class exercise: designing a 5-lesson digital literacy curriculum module.
The workshop will be taught by Deborah Carter, NewTechKids’ Founder, who led the development of our curriculum and lessons, along with a classroom teacher. This workshop will be taught in English.
