Challenge children to help the United Nations spread public health messages about the behaviours and habits that people should adopt to fight the spread of Coronavirus.
The UN is asking creatives (designers, illustrators, storytellers, marketeers, artists as well as people with creative ideas) to contribute to “translating critical public health messages into different languages, different cultures, communities and platforms, reaching everyone, everywhere”. These messages will be spread across different mediums, including social to print, radio, television, outdoor advertising.
The six areas to focus on (briefs) are: 1.Personal hygiene 2. Social distancing 3. Know the symptoms 4. Myth-busting and 5. Do more, donate.
PARENTS: Have your child create a paper poster or a digital poster. Kids can create A4 paper posters which can be converted into a PDF file or digital posters using Canva, an easy-to-use, graphic design platform that allows users to create social media graphics, presentations, posters and other visual content. Engage in some worthwhile sharenting by posting your child’s creation on your social media pages.
TEACHERS: Have your class work together to plan and produce a social media campaign which can be shared online with your school community. Plan the structure of your campaign and scheduling together with students. Have each student create a paper paper which can be turned into a PDF file or a digital poster using Canva. Post student creations on your school’s Web site and social media pages on a daily or weekly basis.
