Summer 2018 Vacation Bootcamp #3: 7-12 Years

Give your child the 21st century knowledge and skills that most schools aren’t teaching.

NewTechKids is organising this summer enrichment bootcamp to expose children to computer science and give them a solid foundation to understand technology and how it works.

During this bootcamp of five daily lessons, kids ages 7-12 will explore computer science and its influence on the technology we use in our daily lives. They will learn about important computer science concepts which define all technology and apply these concepts by planning, building and programming using a variety of technology education tools, including Ozobot robots, littleBits and LEGO Mindstorms.

Computer science concepts covered will include automation, programming, algorithms, loops, input/output, parts working together, feedback, sequences, variables, and design cycles. To help them develop their collaboration skills, they will work in small teams for most of the activities.

This bootcamp is ideal for children with no previous exposure to computer science and those who have previously participated in NewTechKids programs. All of our programs are taught by professional teachers with specialised computer science training.

Workshops will take place daily from 10:00-13:00 on the following dates:
– August 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, 2018

A minimum of 15 students is required to offer this bootcamp. Registrants will be notified one week prior if the bootcamp is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.

Light snacks and drinks will be provided and children can also bring healthy food from home.

The bootcamp is organised in partnership with Maakplaats 021, the Amsterdam Municipal Library’s network of Maker spaces in its branches.
