Introducing Nigerian Students to Programming

On June 4 and 5, 2019, NewTechKids organized an 'Intro to Programming' bootcamp in Amsterdam for 50 students from Lagos, Nigeria. Next week, NewTechKids will be hosting a delegation of primary school students from Lagos, Nigeria in Amsterdam. Today’s teaching experiences at Beatrix School in Haarlem

NewTechKids spent the day in beautiful Haarlem, teaching students at the Beatrixschool. Our challenge: teaching students in two classes about programming in the context of automation with LEGO Mindstorms robots. One class developed appliances aimed at reducing the workload of families while the other reimagined robots who could take over monotonous or dangerous farm work. NewTechKids back from teaching in the United Arab Emirates

We’re just back from our third, inspiring round of teaching in the United Arab Emirates. NewTechKids was invited to teach computer science workshops to children ages 8-12 during the 2019 Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival which took place from April 17-27, 2019. We scrapped all computers and technology devices to teach computer science concepts with pen and paper, art supplies and games. New Computer Science/Maker Ed Summer Programs

NewTechKids is super excited to announce two new 2019 summer bootcamps which will combine computer science and maker activities. The workshops will be taught in partnership with Maakplaats 021, the Maker education initiative of the Amsterdam Public Library, the largest public library in Europe.
