OBA Ijburg Monday Aft. Bootcamp: 8-12 Years (10 workshops)

(Bilingual camp taught in a combination of Dutch and English.)

Bootcamp subsidized by Dynamo Talententent, an after-school program organizer, for kids living in the Ijburg neighbourhood.

During this NewTechKids after-school bootcamp (10 weekly lessons) on Monday afternoons, kids ages 8-12 will invent, a series of robots and tech prototypes. The bootcamp will take place at at OBA Ijburg.

Using LEGO robotics kits, they’ll learn about design concepts (resources, requirements, testing, iteration, best practices) and computer science concepts (coding, algorithms, commands, loops, sequence, iteration, if-else logic, etc.). During each class, they’ll discuss inspiring examples of technology before completing challenges in pairs and presenting their prototypes.

The workshop will be taught in a combination of English and Dutch by a native Dutch-speaking teacher with specialised training in computer science. The curriculum and lesson are based on NewTechKids’ pedagogy which focuses on concept-context learning and the use of tangible learning tools.
