Imagine loving your Mama so much that during primary school, you are already planning, plotting and preparing to help her overcome her disability. Everyday this past week, a woman in a wheelchair brought her daughter and son to NewTechKids summer bootcamp at the Amsterdam Public Library. The son was talented but the daughter was UBER-talented. She squealed with joy when she saw the LEGO Mindstorms kits we use whereas most of the kids looked bewildered. When

Yesterday, Deborah Carter, NewTechKids' Founder and Managing Director, had the chance to tell NewTechKids' story to people who work at Schuberg Philis (known as 'colleagues'). Schuberg Philis has been supporting and collaborating with NewTechKids since December 2021. Schuberg Philis colleagues are who we hope our students will be in the future: technologists as well as business developers, salespeople, tech recruiters, engineers, account managers and people who care deeply about kids and tech education. Why should kids participate in tech innovation classes and bootcamps? To understand the science of tech (computer science)? Yep! To learn how to code? Yep! They can identify problems, then develop solutions and create new opportunities with tech knowledge, skills and materials. They can design, build and code

NewTechKids has wrapped up our computer science and robotics bootcamp for high-potential teens from Amsterdam southeast, a low-income, largely immigrant community. According to one of our teachers, it was "one of the best classes" he's taught over his seven year career at NewTechKids. The magic ingredient? The kids themselves. Every Sunday, these kids rode the subway for 25 minutes to the Library, often accompanied by their parents and group mentor. Many came early and they
