Parent and Child Programming Bootcamp: Nov./Dec. 2019

(Taught in a combination of Dutch and English by a professionally trained, native Dutch teacher.)

During this bootcamp of seven (7) weekly workshops, kids ages 7-12 along with a parent/caregiver will become members of Division Q, a secret spy organization, who design, build and program spy gadgets.

They’ll participate in class discussions before learning about important computer science and programming concepts. They’ll then complete a programming and robotics challenges using tools such as LEGO WeDo and LEGO Mindstorms.

The bootcamp will be taught by a professional teacher with specialized computer science training.

Our bootcamp is ideal for children and parents/caregivers with no previous exposure to computer science as well as kids who have previously participated in NewTechKids programs. The bootcamp will be an ideal environment for kids to bond with their parents and invent, experiment, collaborate in a fun and safe learning environment.

Workshops will take place on Saturday afternoons from 15:00 – 16:30 on the following dates:

  • November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 2019
  • December 7, 14, 2019

A minimum of 14 participants (7 pairs of kids and parents/caregivers) is required to offer this bootcamp. Registrants will be notified one week prior if the bootcamp is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.

Location: Maakplaats 021 space (basement), Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (OBA)/Amsterdam Public Library, Oosterdokskade 143, Amsterdam (7-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station)
