Mondays – ‘Tech Creators to the Rescue’ (7-12 Years): Sept-Oct 2019

This bootcamp will be taught in a combination of Dutch and English by a professional teacher.

During this computer science bootcamp of five (5) weekly workshops on Monday afternoons, kids ages 7-12 will learn how technology and automation is transforming a range of industries, from farming to construction, medicine and sports.

During each workshop, they’ll learn about computer science concepts such as algorithms, commands, loops, sequence, iteration and if-else logic. They’ll then complete class challenges which involve designing, building and programming robots and technology prototypes for different industries in small teams using LEGO WeDo and LEGO Mindstorms.

Our bootcamp is ideal for children with no previous exposure to design and computer science and those who have previously participated in NewTechKids programs. It will be an ideal environment in which to experiment, experience failure and practise perseverance as part of the learning process in a fun and safe learning environment.

Workshops will take place on Monday afternoons from 16:00 – 17:30 on the following dates:
– September 23, 30
– October 7, 14, 28

The bootcamp will be taught in a combination of English and Dutch by a professional teacher with specialised training in computer science. The curriculum and workshops are based on NewTechKids’ pedagogy which focuses on concept-context learning and the use of tangible objects.

A minimum of 15 students is required to offer this program. Registrants will be notified one week prior if the program is cancelled and a full refund will be provided.
