Programming and Computer Science Program: 10-12 years

What is a computer and how does its main parts work together? What’s the connection between hardware and software? What is the logic behind programming languages? How can computational thinking help kids solve problems and design and program solutions?

During this NewTechKids bootcamp of approximately 15 weekly workshops, kids aged 10-12 years old will learn the core concepts which define technology, computer science and programming. Concepts covered will include systems thinking, input/output, feedback, computational thinking, algorithms and sequences, data (numbers and Booleans), variables and collections, loops, event handling, design and testing.

Kids will explore these concepts through a mix of pen and paper exercises, games, programming LEGO Mindstorms robots, building a Raspberry Pi computer kit, and other activities.

The workshops will be taught in a combination of English and Dutch. A minimum number of students is required to offer the program. Parents will be notified five days prior should the program be cancelled and receive a full refund.
