Programming Bootcamp: Groups 3, 4 and 5

What do binary numbers have to do with designing a programmable car? Children found out during this bootcamp of four weekly workshops taught by NewTechKids and offered via Ijsterk, an after-school program provider in Amsterdam. Children discovered the basics of programming and automation through a mix of crafts, pen and paper activities and building with blocks. Many of the kids present received their first taste of coding by developing and testing simple programs before graduating to programming a Lego Mindstorm robot. Technology and programming concepts covered include programming, automation, controls, variables, input-output and requirements. Classes were taught in a combination of English and Dutch.

During the workshops, children worked in small teams to program LEGO Mindstorm robots provided by NewTechKids.
